The Brief
For this elegant home in London, the architect envisioned a light-filled extension that would open effortlessly to the garden while showcasing the natural warmth of oak. The glazing needed to complement the refined detailing of the timber-clad exterior and deliver flawless functionality across large spans.
The Challenge
To achieve the architect’s vision, we developed a highly bespoke Vantage Modern sliding door system with custom external timber fins. The technical complexity lay in creating a solution that could be installed from the outside while incorporating an oversized head section to conceal the structural downstand — ensuring an uninterrupted, clean aesthetic.
This detail demanded precision engineering and close collaboration between the design and fabrication teams. The result is a fully flush threshold and an expanse of glazing that wraps seamlessly around the extension, connecting to a matching window beyond. The oak fins align perfectly across the façade, maintaining rhythm and harmony throughout the design.
