Engineered wood – the heart of our products
Ecovia products are made with engineered wood of the highest quality. Without it, our precision design and manufacture would count for nothing. Engineered wood is exceptionally robust and stable and experiences limited movement in response to moisture, such as warping. It’s the natural choice for demanding builds in almost all circumstances.
Why choose wood?
Wood is the original multi-purpose building material. Craftsmen and architects originally chose wood for its strength, durability and ready availability. Yet its beauty, sustainability credentials and adaptability render it as relevant today as it was in the past.
Having fallen out of favour in preference to steel, UPVC and aluminium windows and doors, wood is experiencing a welcome renaissance. We believe it’s the perfect choice for window frames, doors and roof glazing; complementing contemporary architecture and pushing the boundaries of technical performance.
We use just five types of wood
Pine
Variable grain pattern, creating an attractive and original appearance. An excellent choice for lighter stains and paints.
Spruce
Excellent insulation properties; perfect for Passivhaus projects. A delicate grain pattern. Responds excellently to painting and washes.
Oak
Distinctive and premium; a warm, classic appearance. A beautiful choice for properties with exposed timbers.
Larch
Variable grain pattern, creating an attractive and original appearance. An excellent choice for lighter stains and paints.
Accoya
A type of softwood treated for the performance of a hardwood. Fast-growing, sustainable, exceptionally durable. We combine it with pine or spruce for cost efficiency whilst preserving the durability characteristics externally where they are needed.

Coatings
We can coat your timber or aluminium frames in any colour or finish, whether a RAL colour, stain or varnish. We can also colour-match to a finish elsewhere in your build.
