Still Hotel
Still Hotel is a new-build motel in Bristol designed by Soho House Group, located beside one of the city's busiest motorways. Despite its setting, the project achieves a profound sense of quiet and calm — a serene architectural retreat shaped through precision engineering and refined material detail.
The Brief
The ambition was to create a peaceful, high-performance hotel that offered guests both acoustic comfort and natural ventilation. The design needed to balance technical excellence with the distinctively warm, understated aesthetic of Soho House interiors.

The Challenge
Ecovia was commissioned to design a bespoke glazing system capable of exceptional sound insulation without compromising usability or elegance.
Over 150 windows were produced with a custom inward-opening tilt mechanism, allowing safe and controlled ventilation while maintaining full acoustic performance. Each unit was triple glazed, achieving an impressive 54dB sound reduction, ensuring quiet rooms even on the motorway-facing side of the building.
The timber-lined reveals add warmth and texture, providing a refined, crafted quality that softens the building’s minimalist lines.
Elsewhere, automated entrance doors and large sliding pocket doors enhance the sense of openness, connecting to a calm courtyard space while preserving the building’s acoustic integrity.

The Outcome
The result is a beautifully balanced environment — quiet, composed, and unmistakably Soho House. Through careful collaboration and technical expertise, Still Hotel demonstrates how acoustic performance can be elevated to an architectural art — creating a space that feels as serene as it looks.
The Soho House distinctive and carefully curated design required something quite unique; a considered joinery design that met our design aesthetic and provided the high comfort and noise performance expected of our guest experience. Ecovia delivered on that vision and set our brand standard for future expansion. Their meticulous attention to detail and collaborative approach surpassed expectations.
