Meadow House
A refined oak-framed retreat where heritage character meets modern performance.
The Brief
Nestled in the East Anglian countryside near Norwich, Meadow House was conceived as a contemporary country retreat that honoured the spirit of the 300-year-old cottage it replaced. Planning permission required the design to remain in keeping with the local vernacular, demanding an oak-framed structure that blended seamlessly into its rural surroundings. The glazing needed to deliver both authenticity and modern performance — complementing the warm tones of the brickwork while ensuring exceptional energy efficiency and security.

The Challenge
With a discerning client and stringent planning restrictions, achieving the right balance between traditional form and cutting-edge functionality was key. Ecovia supplied bespoke Endurance Flush windows and doors, featuring aluminium exteriors and oak interiors to harmonise with the building’s material palette. The flush alignment of the frame and sash created clean, contemporary lines against the rustic brick façade, while the oak reveals brought warmth and texture to the interior.
Each unit was triple glazed for superior thermal performance and fitted with advanced locking mechanisms to meet the client’s high-security requirements. Large sliding doors and glazed gables were carefully detailed to maintain flush thresholds and preserve the project’s architectural integrity.

The Outcome
The result is an exquisitely detailed home that balances heritage sensitivity with modern refinement. The oak structure and flush glazing combine to create a space that feels timeless yet contemporary — solid, serene, and filled with natural light. Meadow House reflects Ecovia’s commitment to bespoke craftsmanship and technical precision in even the most demanding heritage contexts.
